A large, sandy beach with clear blue waters set in a rocky landscape with a few tamarisk trees. It can be accessed by a 20 min walk from the port of Agios Nikolaos. Other neighboring swimming options include the small and secluded coves of Flamourou, Katsouni and Mikros Roukounas.

Megali Ammos (literal meaning: large sand)
Don’t be fooled, because this beach is neither large nor sandy – on the contrary. However, it’s one of the island’s most pristine, with pebbles, lots of pine trees and zero facilities.
Megalos & Mikros Mourtias
Megalos Mourtias is popular, wind-protected and features many amenities, while Mikros Mourtias is a quiet, nudist friendly cove.
Chrysi Milia
A large, popular and fully organized beach, with golden sand, shallow waters, a tavern and water sports facilities. If you fancy a neighboring, more low-key option, the smaller, pebbly beach of Milia, hidden in a lovely pine-lush bay, is suitable for you.
Kokkinokastro (eng. Red Castle)
Another gem beach. It features red cliffs that contrast magically with its blue waters, as well as the remains of the ancient city of Ikos. It’s partly organized and ideal for snorkeling.
Mareza
A quiet beach surrounded by trees. It features a rock, ideal for diving into the crystalline blue waters.
Aponisos
Exotic cove with lovely turquoise waters and lots of pines. It is set in a unique landscape, formed by the miniature private island of Aponisos, which borders with Agistri, thus creating a small natural “swimming pool” in between. It is much favored by vessels. Sun beds, umbrellas and a tavern are also available.
Skala
Very popular, sandy and organized beach, with many facilities. Its shallow waters make it family friendly.
Tripiti
Near the village of Limenaria, amidst a rocky landscape, it is a large, sandy organized beach, with crystal clear waters. Snorkeling and diving are popular activities here.
Metaleia
Transparent waters and white sand contrast beautifully with the green pines and the dark-toned old mining facilities at the background. This organized beach is close to the settlement of Limenaria, at the area of Palataki, where you can see the former headquarters of the German company that used to exploit the region’s iron quarry.
